Elementary Parents: Please do not pull around other vehicles in the pick-up/drop-off line unless you are directed by school staff. This is a safety issue. We have had several parents that have pulled around other vehicles while kids are loading or unloading. I do not think it is too much to ask for you to wait until the car in front has loaded their kids up. Please be considerate of the safety of all students not just you and your children!
The school and the town are collaborating on a plan for Halloween. We are planning on doing a trunk or treat with other forms of entertainment also. This will be held downtown on Halloween night, October 31 2020. If you know of an organization or a person that would like to participate in this please let Mr. Chapman know or call town hall to set that up. Participation could include during your car to trunk or treat, or setting up a game. Our goal is to provide a fun safe environment for our kids on Halloween. Next Friday, there will be a table set up in front of the old grocery store, on the corner of Washington and highway 81, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. Due to the rain we were unable to move the visitor's bleachers for tonight's game. We will mark off a spot on the west end of the home bleachers for Geary's fans.
To the parents and the community: Ryan Public School has been notified that there are individuals in our school that have possibly been exposed to COVID-19. We have been in contact with the health depart and have notified these individuals to quarantine at this time. We have not had anyone in our school that has tested positive. We are working with the Local Health Department to determine if there are any other precautions we need to take at this time. If you have not been contacted by the school or by the health department then you are not considered to be at risk.

I have good news for parents! The state has received a federal waiver that allows us to provide free breakfast and lunch for ALL of our students until funding is no longer available. The waiver is currently in place till December 31. This waiver started September 1. If anything changes we will let you know but for the foreseeable future all meals will be free. This includes meals for any distance kids.

High school parents: If you are bringing lunch to your child please take it to the lobby of the high school. There is a table to put the lunches on. Parents, please send a water bottle with your child. We do not want kids drinking after each other at the water fountains. They will be able to refill their bottle at school if they run out.

With school starting on Thursday I would like to inform parents and community member of some changes that will take place at school to keep our school as safe as possible for our students. 1) No visitors will be allowed down the hallways or in the cafeteria unless approved by school personnel. To be in the school your temperature will be taken and you will be required to wear a mask. Again, this is for visitors only. We ask that you only come into the school for emergencies or essential visits. If you are coming to check your child out of school early please call the office when you arrive, wait in your car and we will send your child to you. 2) For elementary supply drop off on Tuesday, please drop your supplies off with your child's teacher at the east entrance to the Elementary school from 1-2. We encourage every parent to do this but we will allow Kindergarten, Pre-K, and 3 year olds to come in with one parent. This means only 2 people will be able to come in (parent and child). 3) Campus will be closed for lunch for all students. This means that students will not be able to leave the school for lunch. This is a decision we did not come by easily but we think it is in the best interest of our students to keep them on campus. We will allow parents to bring food to their child. If you want to bring food please bring it to the office and your child can pick it up there on the way to lunch. I want to thank everyone for the support. This could prove to be a very trying year for us all in many ways.

In an effort to try and keep everyone updated. I still intend to release our plan early next week. The State Board passed a recommendation that we wear masks at school when we reach a specific number of cases per 100,000 people in the county. I am still working on making sure I know exactly what their plan means for us. Also, we intend to start school on the originally scheduled date, August 13. And our enrollment will be on August 5th and 6th. Sports physicals are this Tuesday.

Senior Graduation will be on June 27,2020 at 7:00pm. We moved it to late June hoping to provide the best possible ceremony for our seniors as we can. We don’t know the exact details of what graduation will look like yet but we do know the date and time. As we get closer to June 27 we will have a plan posted on our website/app and on Facebook. We will use school email to contact seniors with any specific instructions as we get closer to their graduation date.
My name is Madisen Rhoades. I have attended Ryan Public Schools since the 7th grade. I have been a member of our FFA chapter since my 8th grade year. During my Sophomore year I held the FFA office of Historian, and Vice President my Junior and Senior year. I have been a member of the BETA club since my Sophomore year and now serving as the club President. As a Senior I am a member of the yearbook staff. During my time at Ryan, I have played Fast-Pitch and Slow-Pitch Softball since my 7th grade year. Also playing Basketball during my 7th, 8th, and Freshman years. I participated in Track in my 7th and Freshman years, along with Cross Country during 7th grade. I plan to continue attending college and earn a degree in Biological Health Sciences.

Ryan High School is proud to join the nation wide campaign to honor the 2020 Senior Class. High schools around Oklahoma and across the country are banding together to honor the senior class of 2020 amidst the corona virus pandemic. On Friday, April 10th, at 8:20 pm all fields at Bob Givens Sports Complex and all outdoor stadiums around the state and country will turn on their lights for 20 minutes to show their appreciation for the senior class, families, athletes and coaches as part of the “Be the Light” campaign. The lights are a beacon to show the Ryan Senior Class we are thinking of them and to remind them there will be a time when we are all together again. The “Be the Light” campaign has been spreading across the nation as schools look for a way to celebrate their graduating seniors who are having their final memories of high school stripped away from them because of the outbreak. My name is Samantha Good. I have attended Ryan public school since pre-k. I have been a member of FFA since the 8th grade and held the offices of sentinel, historian, and secretary. I have also been a member of BETA club since my sophomore year and currently serve as our vice president. During my time at Ryan I have been part of cheerleading my freshman year, cross country and track my freshman and sophomore year, softball and basketball all four years, and FCA my senior year. I am the president of my class and was named Miss RHS. I am the Salutatorian of my class as well. I plan on attending Oklahoma Christian University in the fall to further my education and play basketball. I plan to become a pediatric Occupational Therapist.

My name is Grace Stamper. I have attended Ryan public school since the 6th grade. I have been a member of FCCLA since my freshman year and reporter my sophomore year. I am also a member of HOSA serving as reporter my junior year and president this year. During my time at Ryan I have been part of FCA, cross country and yearbook my senior year, cheerleading my 9th, 10th and 11th grade years and slow pitch my 9th, 10th, and 12th grade years. For the past two years I have attended Red River Technology Center and have received certifications in CNA, phlebotomy, basic medical assistant and home health aide. I plan on attending SWOSU in the fall and taking a four year program to become an RN, receive my bachelors degree in nursing sciences and would like to one day work in Labor and Delivery at Duncan regional.

The lunch process will change this week. We will only hand out lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays. This will happen at the same time as last week. You will still get food for every day of the week. We are cutting it down to decrease how often people are getting out of their house. Each kid will receive 3 meals per day. This is because we were able to add the supper program back in! So, on Monday kids will receive 6 meals... 3 for Monday and 3 for Tuesday. On Wednesday each kid will receive 9 meals. 3 for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Be on the lookout for menu changes. We are doing our best to try and add some variety in for you!
The Ryan School Teachers and Staff want to let you know that we miss our students. This Sunday at 3:00 we are planning to have a town wide parade to show our love. We will be leaving from the school parking lot and doing our best to travel up and down each street. If you are on out of town student we invite you to sit in your car in the church parking lots or down Main Street so we can see your smiling faces as well. Kids at home can make signs or decorate their sidewalks and sit on their porches and wave. Kids in cars feel free to make signs as well and wave from cars as we go by. As you probably already know The State Board of Education voted to close school buildings across Oklahoma. Schools are supposed to transition to "Distance Learning". Lets make sure everyone understands this does not mean everything will have to move to online! We have started having meetings to come up with a plan that fits our students and community the best. We will have more information about the Distance Learning next week. We have also had lots of questions about numerous activities. Prom and graduation at the top of the list. Those are currently postponed as we wait and see what happens during these uncertain times. We will do our best to do everything we can for our students as soon as we are allowed to. I know everyone is wondering how Ryan Public Schools is going to handle “distance learning”. We do not have any details yet as to how we will do this. We will receive more guidance from the Oklahoma State Department of Education in the next couple of days. Please be patient as we do our best to serve our students! I can assure you we will keep the best interest of our students in mind while we figure this out. I want to think the parents and community for your understanding during the unprecedented time.
We have received word from Waste Connections, which is the company that picks up our trash. They are going to start following stricter safety guidelines and requirements to help prevent the potential spread of Covid-19. They will no longer collect any waste outside of the cart or dumpster. All residential services are "Cart Contents Only". This guideline will reduce the risk of direct human contact with any potentially contaminated waste.
Looking forward to sending more meals with kids today. Any kid under 19 years old can eat. You don’t have to do any paperwork or anything. Just show up to get your meal. The meals are free.
We served 81 people today. Each person received breakfast and lunch. We would like to get this number to around 130. If you did not get meals today please come and get them tomorrow. We would like to maintain high numbers so that we can continue doing this for our students!

Dear Ryan Public School parents and staff: This afternoon, the state Board of Education voted to close all Oklahoma schools, effective immediately, until at least April 6 in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19. This includes Ryan Public Schools. Additionally, there will be no school activities during this time. While state officials mandated schools to close for two weeks following spring break, they also encouraged administrators to prepare for the possibility of longer-term closures, if it becomes necessary. At least 35 other states across the country also have made the decision to close schools statewide in the interest of public health. Oklahoma schools are not expected to be required to make-up the missed days. At this time, schools have been instructed by the state Department of Education not to provide online, home-based or distance learning for students. This is an unprecedented situation, and it continues to evolve by the hour. We know this uncertainty can cause anxiety and worry, but we want to assure you that Ryan Public Schools is doing everything possible to ensure the needs of students and employees will be met during this unique time. We will be closed for classes, but – as a district – we will continue to serve our community, while abiding by the healthy best practices that have been recommended by the CDC. Employees will receive information about their responsibilities during the school closure over the next few days. We encourage you to comply with what health officials have recommended as well. If you can, please stay home and enjoy family time. If you must go out, please practice social distancing, allowing at least six feet between you and other individuals. The Ryan crew has had another busy day at OYE! We finished up our pig showing season with Madisen & Easton Rhoades showing. Riley Ross exhibited 3 does, and Braden Jackson took 5th place in class 11, which is a great accomplishment! Cattle are checked in and will all show tomorrow to expedite the show. Please keep OYE Admin in your thoughts as they fight to keep our kids showing.
Parents, tomorrow is Flex Friday. We will not keep any kids this time so that we are able to have a full staff meeting. School will be out at 1:50PM. Busses will run at that time also. Thank you for your understanding. Please enjoy your spring break.

I am very happy to announce a partnership between Ryan Public Schools and the Town of Ryan! We have been working on a way to improve the way we communicate with parents and community members and I think we have a wonderful solution. There is a new Ryan Public Schools app. This app will serve Ryan Public Schools and the Town of Ryan!!! Just search for "Ryan Public Schools" in your devices app store. If you want updates from the school just download the app and you are all set! If you want updates from the Town of Ryan please follow these instructions. In your app go click on the three lines in the top left hand corner of the screen. Scroll down to the bottom and click Town of Ryan. Fill out the google form and push submit. This will enroll you to get updates in multiple ways. We will have the ability to send push notifications, text messages, and phone calls when the need arises. The open transfer time in the State of Oklahoma is open until May 31. This means if you plan on bringing your child to Ryan from another district you can fill out the paper work today.
